What does an asterisk mean?
An asterisk matches every allowed value in that field. For example, * * * * * runs once every minute in Linux Cron.
How are day-of-month and day-of-week handled?
Linux Cron runs when either field matches if both are restricted. Quartz uses ? to mark one of those two fields as unspecified.
